Being is Greater Than Doing

In the church we have either been explicitly or implicitly taught that a “good” Christian walks and talks a very particular way. But what if we were mistaken? What if God designed each of us uniquely for a specific calling only we could answer? What if to be like Jesus meant more than just serving a lot and being “good?” Together, we will explore how God calls each of us to love our self, live our best, and to lead from both through the Enneagram personality tool.

The call to self-awareness and loving your self – This talk will examine the importance of self-awareness, the problems of blind spots, and how God has made each of us unique.

How to Interpret Scripture in Our World Today

The Bible was written for us, but it was not written to us. This means that our attempts to understand its message and live in obedience isn’t as easy as doing exactly what we see in print. This workshop will identify some of the challenges we face and provide tools that you can use to better understand the Bible.

Mobilizing the Church through Mission and Justice

What did Jesus mean ‘But seek first His Kingdom and his righteousness (justice) and all these things will be given to you as well’? How does The Church engage with God’s mission and justice in our changing societal landscape? What does it mean to re-engage with the good news of Jesus for all people everywhere, and have fun doing it?

We will explore what it means to embrace justice (righteousness) as a core aspect of God’s mission in the world and, rather than be overwhelmed by what this might mean, we’ll lean into the exciting invitation to participate in being harbingers of a new creation.

God’s heart and ‘Bias’ towards Those on the Margins

What is God’s ‘mandate’ to engage with those on society’s margins? What is marginalization? How can the good news of Jesus be we experienced coming ‘through’ the other and not just ‘to’ those on society’s margins?

We will look at the theological mandate to be towards those on the margins and think through practical ways of engaging with people who might on the surface look very different from ourselves.
